A HAIR and beauty salon near Thornbury, which opened only two months ago, has been nominated for a national award.
Skin by Shola located in Tortworth Business Park has been nominated as a finalist for the UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2024.
The salon is run by owner Shola Parkhill and opened for the first time in July this year.
It offers facials, lash extensions, lash lift and tints and a number of treatments as well as event hire spaces.
Shola, who is originally from Bristol, said that winning "would mean the world to her."
She said: “To be shortlisted as a finalist for the UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2024 is honestly amazing!
“However, ot would mean the world to win as I have studied so hard to get to where I am within the industry.
“Continuously training, marketing, networking and researching. I have put all my time, my money and passion into Skin by Shola.
“Branching out and owning a salon has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, whilst raising my son and still working.
“To win the Best New Salon award would be such a reward in recognising my hard work and dedication to my salon!
“Skin by Shola opened up in July 2023 and we are only just getting started. we offer facials, lash extensions, lash lift and tints and a number of aesthetic treatments.
“I started training back in 2022 after going through the pandemic and realising that my job at the time wasn’t fulfilling my passion.
“I wanted to meet new people, be artistic and have the opportunity to travel and work. So I took the plunge in training in Bristol for Aesthetic Treatments.
“Meeting doctors and other practitioners within the industry has been fantastic!
“I am originally from Bristol, and have lived in various places around Bristol and Spain. I am hoping to move to Tortworth very soon.”
